Web host selection is an important step to getting your website on the internet.



There are literally 1,000's of hosting companies around. What to look for and how much to pay?



Features to look for:



Support

Telephone support is particularly valuable if you're a novice. Nothing is more frustrating than having e-mail only support. If you're an experienced user then it may be worth dropping telephone support to get a lower price.



Storage space

90% of websites are less then 30 meg in size, even if your site is >30 meg, perhaps because of image size etc. You may find that by using image management software such as paint shop pro, you can manage with far less.



Bandwidth

Most packages offer plenty of bandwidth, but if your site is particularly busy, you will need more.!!!!!



High bandwidth package then paying for excess usage later on.



Price

Most users need not pay more than $100 per year. If you're quoted more than this, keep looking around.
